Today, Friday, May 15th, 2009 is "Peace Officers' Memorial Day". "Peace Officers' Memorial Day" was created in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to honor those men & women serving as law enforcement officers who had died in the line of duty.

Oregon lost two peace officers in 2008.

In accordance with President Barak Obama's Proclamation of May 11th, 2009, and the protocols of the United States Flag Code, my wife and I are honoring the ultimate sacrifices made by peace officers in Oregon and throughout the land by flying our United States and State of Oregon Flags at Half-Staff all day today.

President Obama's proclamation can be found HERE : http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Presidential-Proclamation-Peace-Officers-Memorial-Day-and-Police-Week/
