Recap: St. Louis vs. NY Yankees
Jupiter, FL (Sports Network) - Adron Chambers singled in the deciding run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals rallied for a 7-6 win over the New York Yankees in Grapefruit League play.
The Cardinals trailed 6-4 heading into their half of the ninth, with Kolten Wong beginning the comeback with a two-run game-tying homer off Kelvin Perez. J.R. Towles and Matt Carpenter then each reached on Yankee errors before Chambers plated Towles from third with his base hit.
Daniel Descalso hit a two-run homer earlier in the day for St. Louis, with Pete Kozma delivering a solo shot while finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Cards starter Joe Kelly worked the first two innings and allowed two runs (1 earned) while issuing three walks.
Ramon Flores had given New York a 5-4 lead with an RBI single in the top of the ninth, then later crossed the plate on J.R. Murphy's two-out double off Edward Mujica.
Yankees starter Ivan Nova tossed three innings of one-run ball before giving way to Brett Marshall, who was touched for three runs on five hits over the next four frames.
