NEW YORK CITY -- Standing in front of Columbus Circle, Alyssa Magnotti held her daughter Austyn tightly. It was another freezing day in New York City, but there is a different kind of warmth coming from the family these days.
Magnotti is standing in New York because of an anonymous donation of Super Bowl tickets by a mysterious unknown benefactor. That man donated them to Overlake Church and the leadership there gave the tickets and a fully-paid trip to New York because of everything Magnotti and Austyn have been through.
Magnotti's husband Nick succumbed to his two-year battle with appendix cancer a few weeks ago, leaving her to raise 10-month old Austyn on her own.
"Obviously, I miss him like crazy," she said. "He wasn't even just my husband. He was my absolute best friend."
Magnotti was able to capture Nick's final weeks on camera and the video went viral. It eventually made its way to the Seahawks, who returned the favor with their own inspirational video for his birthday.
She does what she can to spread his message of faith and love through their blog.
Magnotti is taking a life-long friend to the game and will yell loudly every chance she gets.
It's what Nick would want.
"I feel just really lucky and really blessed that I actually get to see how Nick's life has impacted the world."
