EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) - One man has been arrested and Eugene Police have reopened South Bertelsen Road after responding to reports of an armed subject.
At about 12:25 PM on Wednesday, police responded to an armed subject call in the 2000 block of South Bertelsen Road.
When police arrived, they say they observed the suspect sitting in a chair and he appeared to be loading a rifle and had pointed it at neighbors' yards.
As a safety precaution, Churchill High School and Kennedy Middle School were put on lockdown status and police closed the road near the area.
An armored vehicle was brought to the scene and an EPD Crisis Team Negotiator contacted the residents in the home. Three people were detained and one, the armed subject, was eventually arrested.
26-year-old Alan James Ryan was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, two counts of Reckless Endangering,and Cited in Lieu of Custody for Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. The firearm was found to be a pellet gun, which is defined by City Code as a firearm.
