Cottage Grove (KMTR) - A Cottage Grove man has died in a single vehicle wreck discovered early Friday morning.
Lane County Sheriff's deputies have identified the man as 59 year old Peter Wayne Hill.
The wreck happened in the 78-thousand block of Sears Road in the Cottage Grove area. A caller discovered
the wreckage at about 5:30 Friday morning. Deputies say the car was smashed head on into a tree.
The investigation is continuing, but, at this time they say the car was southbound when it failed to navigate a curve.
Deputies say speed does not appear to be a significant factor. They say there is no indication at this time that alcohol is a factor.
Hill was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash.
