ISLA VISTA, Calif. -- Seven are dead, including the shooter, after a man opened fire at several locations near the University of California, Santa Barbara in Isla Vista, California.
The series of events left seven more with injuries. Police are looking at several videos and blogs posted by the suspected gunman, 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, to see if they can find out what caused the Isla Vista shooting.
Witnesses described the chaos as the gunman twice exchanged gunfire with deputies who were chasing him down - before he crashed his black BMW. Police said officers found Rodger dead of a gunshot wound to the head.
“We are currently analyzing both written and videotaped evidence that suggests this atrocity was a premeditated mass murder,” said Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown.
“It's really heartbreaking, for people to drive around and kill innocent people, it's really sickening,” said Dylan Carr, who had a friend injured in shooting.
