JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (KMTR) -- Running through tires, climbing up muddy hills and crawling over bales of hay is all part of The Rad Run that’s coming to Eugene in May.

This event hits every local angle, from local community members helping out to local sponsors. Families from around Lane County took part in a small commercial to promote the event that's coming this spring. There were also University of Oregon athletes present to help out.

Promoters want to provide an enjoyable and safe obstacle course for all those involved. The run is sponsoring seven different charities, including Relay for Life, Food for Lane County and Lane Blood Center. The goal is to raise $50,000 and some participants can’t wait to tackle the challenges.

"It's like a big giant slip-and-slide and it's a lot safer than those . . . your parents used to put on top of the lawn. It’s going to be downhill towards the end of the race, you’re going to be pretty tired - it’s going to be a nice little break," said former University of Oregon athlete and volunteer Jordan Kent.

Some volunteers are happy to see the community come together as a whole.

“It was just a good time out here today to see everyone get together and help support a local business and the community that's also supporting charities. It’s freezing so it’s nice to see the volunteers help out," said volunteer Noelia Fisher.

This event will go on, rain or shine and there will be a live band. The event is Saturday May 11. To register go to

This article is a joke. Did this reporter never take an English or writing class? It reads as though it is completely slapped together. To combine so many sentences in the first part of this is not only eye-numbing but it's difficult to read. In fact, this article never even mentions the name of the race except in the headline. It never describes what it is. From what I gather, it's similar to a "Dirty Dash." Why not say that? Who starts a sentence with "And?" Isn't it in first grade that we're taught not to do that? Mr. Jordan, I highly suggest you get it together. Take lessons from those around you. Through your articles, you sound unprofessional, uneducated and it simply doesn't sound or look like you care very much about your job.
