CEDAR FLAT, Ore. (KMTR) -- A woman is recovering from at least one gunshot wound after a deputy-involved shooting east of Springfield. The shooting happened on Cedar Flat Road in the Cedar Flat area sometime after 10 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office told NewsSource 16 that a deputy shot a woman in the driveway of a home at the end of the road on the 87000 block of Cedar Flat Road.

Deputies say the adult woman was shot at least once. She was taken to a local hospital shortly after and is expected to recover from her injuries. No one else was hurt in the shooting.

Deputies say the woman who was shot was armed with a gun. Initially, the call came in to Deputies as a report of a physical dispute between adult family members.

Neighbors told NewsSource 16 they heard some kind of argument before the shooting.

As of Tuesday morning at 3:45 a.m., the Lane County Sheriff's Office has not released the name of the woman shot, or any other information in the case. Deputies and on-scene incident command declined an on-camera interview with NewsSource 16 ion early Tuesday morning.

Neighbors told NewsSource 16 that several people were on the property at the time of the shooting. NewsSource 16 witnessed several other people being taken into custody from the house on Tuesday morning.

The county's Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team (IDFIT) is now investigating the shooting, with Springfield Police leading the investigation. Investigators are expected to be on scene all of Tuesday morning.

This is a developing news story. NewsSource 16 will update this article with new information when it becomes available. Also, tune in to NewsSource Today from 5 to 7 a.m. and NewsSource 16 at 5, 5:30, 6:30 and 11 p.m. Tuesday for the latest information.

Being the neighbor in between the homes... I won't say much into this since names haven't even been released. But... It's been a long time coming up here.calls have been put for many years involving the residence were the shooting took place and on the individual... Rarely was any thing responded to. It's a unfortunate situation were lets say activity started continuing again right after the police left the next day. I FEAR what happened here will be lost in the media story's and lane county using this as an example of Budget cuts..And us the neighbors will be caught up in cycle were they have more rights then us out of city limits...it's really a sad situation

>Resident: remember that often the "hunter", as you describe the deputy, often becomes the "prey" in these situations. There is a mountain of info to be gathered and a lot of people who must be interviewed before it is appropriate to release much on this or any other police shooting incident. Many times, the on-scene officers are prohibited by department policy from releasing anything about the incident, at the scene.

Hey "Lane resident", How about you try to do their job. Give them the benefit of the doubt on this one, at least until the case is finalized. The deputy has to go off the facts known at the time, not off the facts that are found out after the investigation is complete. So how about you go back to Monday Morning Quartberbacking something else and leave the cops to do their job :INVESTIGATING CRIMES AND RESPONDING TO CALLS FOR HELP. And hey, how would you feel if someone was threatening you with deadly force and one of these so called "PIGS" declined to take them out and just let them have their way with you instead. How about you keep your mouth shut and let these guys do their job.

They won't do an interview until they get their story straight. They went out hunting and got another one, now all they have to do is justify it. Hooray for the PIGS! How much will this cost us?
