SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- The Washburne Café is celebrating one year in business by raising money and collecting donations for local groups.

The owners say they couldn’t survive without community support and want to give back by investing in local youth.

This week a percentage of proceeds will benefit Head Start of Lane County and customers who bring in a preschool supply to donate will receive a $2 coffee coupon. From September 9th to 22nd, the focus turns to Food for Lane County.  Bring in two cans of food to trade for another coffee coupon. The week of September 23rd, the Springfield Education Foundation will receive a portion of the café's proceeds.
