Veneta man in critical condition after motorcycle collision with deer

MONROE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday evening's critical injury crash involving a motorcycle and a deer on Territorial Highway south of Monroe.

According to Trooper Evan Sether, on August 20, 2012 at approximately 7:50 PM a 1989 Honda motorcycle operated by Adam Scott Hansen, age 35, from Veneta, was northbound on Territorial Highway near Milepost 3 when he struck a deer in the traffic lane. The motorcycle came to rest on the edge of the roadway with Hansen seriously injured.

Hansen was transported by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend where he is in critical condition. He was wearing a protective helmet.

The deer was found dead at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. ODOT, Lane Rural Fire Department and Junction City Fire Department assisted at the scene. The highway was closed over three hours.
