Eugene (KMTR) - A standoff in southeast Eugene was resolved peacefully Wednesday afternoon.

After a three-hour standoff with police, an armed and suicidal man surrendered and was taken into custody shortly after noon.

The SWAT team was called in Wednesday morning after the 62-year-old man barricaded himself in a house in the 2500 block of Columbia Street, a few blocks from Laurelwood Golf Course.  Police say he threatened to shoot officers and himself.

Officers cordoned off a block around the home and evacuated neighbors.  And police blocked traffic on Columbia and Agate from East 25th Avenue to East 26th Avenue for several hours.
