RESTON, Ore. (KMTR) -- A driver found a woman lying in the middle of the road at about 2:15 AM Wednesday morning. She was unconscious and badly injured.She was found on Reston Road between the towns of Tenmile and Reston. There were no vehicles nearby and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman. She is 53 years old and a resident of Roseburg, but they have yet to release her name.
Her injuries were serious and she was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg for treatment. The woman was later transported to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
“We’re trying to determine whether it was some sort of hit-and-run or whether it was an assault or somebody was dumped out of a vehicle, or there's a number of possibilities,” says Deputy Dwes Hutson of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “The case is under investigation. We have detectives out there investigating. They're being assisted by state police."
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office would like to hear from anyone who has more information regarding the incident.
