UPDATE: River Road partially blocked due to wreck

EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- River Road northbound is reduced to one lane at River Avenue.
 
Eugene police is investigating a crash that involves a motorcycle and Eugene Police Department patrol car. 

The officer was responding to cover two other police officers on a traffic stop of a potential armed subject when he collided with a motorcyclist.

The officer was northbound on River Road and the motorcyclist was westbound on River Avenue, turning southbound onto River Road, when the collision occurred.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene and released. The officer was not hurt.

Eugene Police Major Collision Investigation Team is investigating the crash, since it involved a police vehicle involved in response mode. Findings will be submitted to the District Attorney.

These policemen think they are catching criminals by speeding around, only to involve innocent bystanders or drivers. Gezz that guy on the motorcycle was dang lucky, usually they die when hit or seriously injured. What miracle he walked away, I think chasing at high speeds thru town is a practice in which needs revision to insure safety, a child on a bicylce could be going down the road at the wrong time.
