UPDATE: 2 OSU students identified as victims of fatal accident near Corvallis
Corvallis (KMTR) Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Cardwell Hill Drive, just west of Corvallis. The crash resulted in the death of two international students at Oregon State University.
Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Cardwell Hill Drive, just west of Corvallis. The crash was reported on 10/27/11 at 0407 am. The vehicle, a White 2011 BMW 335 2 dr Sedan, had crashed into a power pole near the intersection of Mitchell Drive and Cardwell Hill Drive. A fire subsequently engulfed the power pole and vehicle as a result of the crash. The crash resulted in the death of two individuals. A preliminary investigation has determined that speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the crash.
The victims of the crash have been identified as the driver, Fan Yu, and passenger, Zhaoxuan Dong
The victims have been identified as International Students from China, enrolled at Oregon State University. Benton County Sheriffs Office and Oregon State Police at Oregon State University worked together to notify the victim's family and friends.
