CORVALLIS, Ore. (KMTR) -- With high stakes for this year’s Civil War and a lot onthe line, fan intensity for the game continues to reach new levels.

The latest edition of the Civil War kicked off Saturday, November 24 and while it it’s the 116th contest, the number hasn’t made Beaver or Duck fans any softer.

In the middle of it all, there’s still a back-and-forth chaos.

"We win wherever we are!” screams one confident Duck fan.

""They're not unbeatable," says Julian Harris, an OSU Beavers fan.

"Every one of them decided to put a Ducks shirt on after we win," said another Duck fan.

There's not a lot of common ground between the two teams. Many point to Oregon as the beneficiaries of Nike and say Duck fans have a certain cockiness. Meanwhile, others say the Beavers just aren't good.

"It always rains in Reser Stadium but it never rains in Autzen Stadium!" said another confident Duck fan.

"We do respect their competitiveness . . . we just don't like the cockiness," said Shelby and Maija, two OSU Beavers fans.

But while there's plenty to bicker about on the sidelines between the Ducks and Beavers, it's a rivalry that still has a smiling spirit.

"Great hospitality until the game starts, then it gets a little hostile but outside at the tailgaters it was a great time by everybody," said Kevin Fuller, an Oregon Ducks fan.

"Yes there's hatred and what not. But it's all for fun at the end of the day - it's all just fun and games. And it's a beautiful sport," says Rodolfo, an OSU fan.

One team has to lose but still, people keep their spirits and hope for better times ahead.

"We aren't to the Ducks spectrum right now, but . . . we'll get there," says Issac Black, an OSU student.

The Beavers will play one more regular season game against Nichols State on December 1. The game was originally supposed to kick off the Beavers' season; however, it was postponed due to weather preventing Nichols State from flying out to Corvallis.
