Eugene, Ore (KMTR) - As the 2012 Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field get closer, Lane Community College is gearing up to host the competing athletes. LCC’s track and field will be the main training facility for the Olympic Trials.

The facility boasts a new track surface, new turf and a new scoreboard. It now fits Olympic certification standards.

Hayward Field is the hub, but I think this community embraces Track Town and TrackTown ’12, and I think we’re able to provide an enhancement to support Hayward Field events,” said LCC track coach Grady O’Conner.

The athletes will use LCC as a practice site only. Shuttles will take them to and from Hayward Field.
