Eugene (KMTR) – In just a few weeks, people will be waiting in line to get into Hayward Field for the Olympic Track and Field Trials. They will be faced with a long list of items that will not be allowed inside the stadium.
Before making it inside Hayward Field or the Fan Festival surrounding the trials, spectators will have to pass through a security screening including a metal detector.
Those who wish to stay hydrated may bring a plastic water bottle—not glass. Many metal containers won't make it through security either. No outside food or liquid will be allowed, so spectators should bring empty plastic bottles and fill them at fountains inside the venue.
TrackTown 2012 organizer Marilyn Milne says taking a look at their list of prohibited items before heading for Hayward will help you breeze through security.
“What we're aiming at is a safe, sustainable experience that's really focused on the amazing athletic events people are going to see,” Milne says.
Other items on the "do not bring" list include:
- Coolers, ice chests or Thermos bottles
- Lawn chairs (sizes of bags or stadium seats are limited)
- Video cameras (still cameras are OK)
- Moisemakers
- Beach balls
- Frisbees
- Weapons
- Umbrellas
A full list of the prohibited items is available on the TrackTown 12 Web site.
