THURSTON, Ore. (KMTR) – The robotics team at Thurston High School showed off several creations on Wednesday during an open house.
The students are all part of the school’s eleven-member robotics team and they wanted to show off their robots that they’ve been working on for the past couple semesters. This is the team's fifth year at the school and the first time they've had three different groups. Last year, the team made it to state. The students worked on robots that can pick up rings and deploy ramps for other robots.
“It’s really frustrating when you put things together and it doesn't work and you try it three, four or five times and it still doesn't work,” said junior Cassandra McDowell. “But when it finally does works it gives you such a feeling of accomplishment that it's awesome."
Teachers say the class prepares students who are interested in pursuing an engineering degree in college.
