EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) –A third grade teacher in Springfield was given a big surprise Tuesday in front of the entire school. Maple Elementary teacher Courtny Egbert was selected winner of a program called “A Day Made Better,” put on by Office Max.

She was awarded her prize Tuesday during a surprise assembly. An Office Max representative came to the school to deliver Courtny’s prize box, which included a new swivel chair, a printer, and a digital camera.

Egbert was nominated by the school secretary. She describes Courtny as an upbeat and positive person who brings smiles to everyone’s faces and loves her students.

The program is meant to help teachers so they don't have to spend their own money on school supplies. Egbert is one of a thousand teachers across the nation who was surprised Tuesday with one thousand dollars worth of classroom supplies.
