Tri City (KMTR) - A woman from Myrtle Creek is dead after her car was struck by a pickup truck in a T-bone crash in Tri City Monday.

The 16-year-old girl who was driving the pickup was not found to be at fault.

Deputies say 86-year-old Palma Carnine, was pulling onto Highway 99 from Grant Avenue when her car was hit. The driver of the pickup told police it happened so fast, there wasn't anything she could do. After accident reconstructionists looked at the crash scene, they agreed.

“They go out there and they map the scene out and they look for evidence, which could be skid marks tire tracks, broken glass—and it looks like she didn't have enough time to do anything,” said Dwes Hutson, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Deputies on the scene said it appeared Carnine simply did not see the truck coming.
