WOOD VILLAGE, Ore. -- Proponents of The Grange casino project announced Tuesday they would suspend campaign operations and stop running ads supporting measures 82 and 83.

The group believes that Oregon voters are not ready to support a private casino, according to Stacey Dycus of Yes on 82 and 83.

“We knew when we began this process that it would be a challenge to break the existing political and gaming monopoly in Oregon, but we also knew that there was a great opportunity to create a unique entertainment destination in Wood Village that provided jobs and new revenues for schools and public services," she said.

The measure remains on the ballot and could still pass without the advertising support.

"In the end, the final decision is up to voters, and we will continue to hope for the best on Election Day," Dycus said.

The State of Oregon is in the gambling business. Why does the state have any say about private enterprise being in the gambling business. Competition?? Gee does not the State get to tax the competition. Are not monopolies illegal. Bad behaviors, no one can totally control bad behavior. There will always be addicts, environmentalists killing jobs, etc. etc. There will always be addicts, and government blood suckers draining the taxpayer of their earnings. There will always be people not willing to compromise for the best of all not just there personal agenda. Common sense, or I will see you in the food line.

Yes let's get casino for Canada and have make more gambling spots for people to lose their money, then they have to go to rehab while all the family has been stripped of stability due to the gambler in the family. No we don't need anymore addictive outlets to satisfy bad behaviors.

This isn't the way to support anyone but a corporation in Canada.

Don't people realize how deprived a lot of Oregon kids are on a larger scale? They need more support in their schools!
