SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- A late night high-speed chase through Springfield Thursday ended at a stop sign where it turned into a manhunt on foot.

Springfield police say it took a couple of hours, but they finally arrested a teenager who they say crashed a stolen SUV at the end of the chase.

Ricky E. Meyer, 18, is facing a felony hit-and-run charge and other charges connected to the chase, to the stolen car and for running away from officers.

Officers say they tried pulling over a stolen SUV Thursday night but the driver sped off. He eventually crashed into a stop sign on Q Street at 17th. Police say he then took off on foot.

Q Street was blocked and police say they warned neighbors to stay in their homes while they looked for Meyer.

A tip from one of Meyer's relatives led officers to his home on Valley Meadows Court in Springfield, where Meyer was arrested around 1:00 AM Friday.
