Coos Bay (KMTR) - Over the weekend, a large, hollow, steel object showed up on Horsfall Beach.  Something of that size was initially assumed to be a piece of tsunami debris arriving from Japan, but after taking a closer look, Oregon State Parks reps say it's probably local.

Mast Brothers towing company removed the structure early Tuesday.  State Parks employees say there was no growth on the metal, unlike all the other Japan debris they've found so far.  There were also no markings to offer any clues about where it came from.  The structure appears to be some type of buoy, or float for a dock.

The metal was towed up to Reedsport, where it will be broken down, and sent to a steel yard for scrap metal.
