Springfield (KMTR) - The City of Springfield is moving forward with a proposal to expand its car camping program for people who are homeless.

At its Monday night meeting, the City Council recommended that city staff should start preparing by actually getting everything in writing, such as how and where the car camping program would expand.

The Springfield Shelter Rights Alliance wants to team up with the St. Vincent DePaul Society to add more overnight parking spots at industrial sites to help the homeless.

The councilors will vote on the proposal once it is complete.
