SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- Springfield Police are searching for two men after another man was shot in the leg early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened around 1:30 AM Saturday morning, August 4
th, 2012, in the parking lot of the Pioneer Plaza shopping center.

Springfield Police say the man got into a fight with two other people near the Payless Shoe Source and Shari’s Restaurant.

Police say one of the men fired a gun, hitting the 28-year-old male victim in the leg. The man is expected to be OK.

“He was transported to the hospital where they did surgery on him. What we'll probably do after his head clears a little bit is we'll re-interview him again to see if we can get some more clear details,” says Sergeant Mike McCarthy of the Springfield Police Department.

“There may be somebody who saw something and doesn't realize what they saw. They could've seen a speeding vehicle leaving the area,” says Sergeant McCarthy.

Police say after the shooting, the suspects took off in a small, dark-colored hatchback-type vehicle. The suspects are described at two while males.
