EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Police and fire investigators are looking for a fire bug in downtown Eugene.

Late Sunday and early Monday a string fires in Dumpsters were reported in several blocks of the western downtown area. It appears the fires were intentionally set about every two blocks. Firefighters were called to at least a half dozen fires set between midnight and 3 AM. The majority were discovered along West 7th Avenue.

One of the fires started behind the Goodyear Tire store. Another burned a fence near the Jiffy Lube garage. Fire investigators say someone also tried to set a fire in the trash bins near The Broadway Place apartments at 7th and Washington.

Eugene police and fire investigators were at every site, looking for clues that may lead to whoever set the fires.

None of the fires left behind serious damage but authorities are determined to catch the arsonist.
