Eugene (KMTR) – Sheldon High School’s volleyball teams will wear pink next week, in their annual matches fighting breast cancer. Teammates have been organizing the event for months, putting together all kids of ways for the community to donate in different fundraisers. Spectators can bid on silent auction items, buy pink shirts and bracelets, or raffle tickets. Fans can also sponsor a player for the night, and pledge a certain amount of money for every dig or kill she records in the game. The event raised $2,500 last year. This time around, Sheldon hopes to bring in $3,000 to give to the American Cancer Society.
The event is October 4th at Sheldon. The auction and JV matches kick off at 5:00 p.m., and Varsity takes the court at 6:30.
For those who can’t attend but still want to help, checks can be made out to Sheldon Volleyball, with “Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser” written in the Memo line. To donate items to the silent auction, contact the Fundraiser Chair Sue Rouleau at rouleaus@hotmail.com.
