CORVALLIS, Ore. (KMTR) -- Valuable equipment stolen from Oregon State University has been found and the return caused a bigger commotion than the disappearance.
The $75,000 radiometer used by the OSU College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences was found in a campus parking lot Wednesday morning. Police did not know what it was or to whom it belonged, so they closed the area around 15th Street between Jefferson Street and Washington Street.
The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit was called in to examine the container, described as a large cooler, and its contents. Explosive technicians used a robot to examine the container and determined it was not hazardous or explosive. The Radiometer is a data collection device.
It was stolen from an OSU van on May 19th.
