Elmira (KMTR) – Santa Claus paid a visit to Elmira Thursday to give a little girl an early Christmas present. He walked into 6-year-old Kelly Torrez’ classroom at Elmira Elementary School and said to her, “Kelly, did you know you will be going to Disneyland with your family in March? Everyone, give her a hand!”Kelly is battling leukemia. Her wish to meet Mickey Mouse will be granted next spring by Oregon’s Make-A-Wish Foundation. They teamed up with the “Macy's Believe” campaign, to bring Santa to Kelly’s classroom.
“You know, it's about giving her that sparkle of magic when she's feeling kind of crummy,” said Kelly O’Malley-McKee of Oregon Make-a-Wish. “And something to look forward to, something to put a smile on her face and heighten her spirits and bringing her hope and joy when she needs it most.”
During its “Macy’s Believe” campaign, Macy's is donating a dollar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every letter to Santa dropped off at one of their letterboxes.
