EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) - Saint Vincent DePaul has started moving into its new building on Chad Drive.

Over the weekend, the non-profit hopes to fine tune some things inside their new facility with the idea they'll open up operationally Monday.

Terry McDonald, executive director of Saint Vincent DePaul, told NewsSource 16 the space is desperately needed. With administrators working out of an area with less than 7,000 square feet on Seneca Road, the new facility will offer them nearly double that and more opportunities for processing and such throughout stores.

The store at Seneca Road will remain. A new Saint Vincent DePaul store will open up downstairs on Chad Drive with the grand opening date not yet set.

"The focus on this is really about jobs and job creation and the opportunity for economic development," said McDonald. "In a time when there's a need for jobs and job development this kind of a facility gives us that opportunity to serve this part of town better but really the community better."

McDonald said it's truly been the community who has made their success possible.

"The community has been very supportive of giving us their goods, that helps us create the jobs, which gives the funds we are able to use for the emergency services," he explained.

The upstairs of the Seneca Road location will be turned into an area for processing and more.

"Our current space is clearly inadequate for our offices and administration and it has been inadequate for a number of years," said McDonald.
