ROSEBURG (KMTR) - The WorkSource Douglas Employment Department hosted a job fair today in Roseburg.  Hundreds of enthusiastic job seekers attended the event at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.  Some organizations wanted to let residents know about programs they have available.  But many companies and organizations are looking to hire full- and part-time employees.  Some of those companies at the job fair even interviewed candidates on the spot.

The companies at the job fair that have available positions in the Roseburg area include: Fred Meyer (courtesy clerks), Brooke Communications (sales), Express Employment Professionals (office administration and manufacturing/labor), Rose Haven Nursing (CNA, RN, LPN), Edward Jones, Aaron's, Home Helpers, Roseburg Forest Products (mill production), Sherman Bros (mechanic and trucking positions), the Roseburg School District (substitute custodians, office positions, instructional assistants), the Douglas County Courthouse, Terrain Tamers (truck driving within Oregon), Lowe's (seasonal help), First Call Resolution (sales), UCAN (bus driver), the Umpqua Indian Development Corporation (which owns 13 companies including Seven Feathers), First Strike Environmental (wildland firefighting), Lil Pantry Market and Deli (gas attendants and cashiers), US Office of Personal management (doctors, nurses, support staff etc for the VA), and Mercy Medical Center.

Several employment agencies also attended the job fair.  These are organizations that will help anyone who is looking for a job.
One organization, Umpqua Training Employment (Ute1Stop), offers completely free services.  The agency is federally funded through the Department of Labor and works directly with different companies that are actively looking for employees.
Other agencies with job-related resources include Select Temp Employment Services, the Human Service Management Douglas County Chapter, the Oregon Secretary of State Business Express, and the Umpqua Business Center - which offers office space and programs for start-up businesses.
Vocational Rehabilitation Services helps anyone with a disability try to find a job, and Neighborhood Works offers programs to help people start their own business and find affordable housing.

The FBI also had a representative at the job fair, letting job-seekers know that the bureau is always looking for new agents nationwide.  To join the FBI, the first step is to apply on their website at: https://www.fbijobs.gov/index.asp.  The FBI does all job training after hiring.

Vet Services were also present, as well as the US Air Force, Army, National Guard, and Navy.

The WorkSource Douglas Employment Department has an employment center on Pine St. in downtown Roseburg.  Anyone is welcome to use the department's resources to find employment.  WorkSource has more information about its services online, available at: http://www.worksourceoregon.org/90-worksource-centers/worksource-centers-employment-department/245-roseburg
