ROSEBURG, Ore. (KMTR) -- As Halloween approaches, many kids are focused on finding that perfect get-up. But for some families, it can be tough coming up with the extra cash to buy costumes.
The Roseburg Optimists Club is currently holding a Halloween costume drive. They're collecting new and gently-used costumes for kids whose families cannot afford them. This Saturday at the 6th Annual Halloween Spooktacular event, there will be a costume closet with the donated costumes available for kids who need them. The event will be family-friendly and carnival-like and also a fundraiser.
"It's a great time for parents to bring their kids out, to have a good time," says Mike Fieldman, member of the Roseburg Optimists. "We have different organizations and businesses from around town who have booths set up with games and prizes. It is also a fundraiser for UCAN. So at the entrance, we ask people to bring a can of food."
The Halloween Spooktacular event is happening this Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at Fremont Middle School in Roseburg. To get in all you need is a non-perishable food donation.
If you have costumes to donate, you're asked to call 541 817-3074.
