SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- A close call for an Oregon state trooper on his way to a car crash.

He was on his way to a crash on Interstate 5 Monday night, when he hit standing water on the highway, lost control and smashed into the side of a semi tractor-trailer truck.

It happened north of Springfield. The trooper is okay.

With more rain in the forecast, state police are warning drivers to be careful out on the roads.

In the old days that would be at least 10 demerits. Wonder what it is these days.
