EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Monday morning brings a new look, a new name and an expanded mission for a local non-profit that helps families.
For 34 years, most people have known the place as Birth to Three, but now it’s known as Parenting Now.
Over the weekend, the staff worked to change the website, replace signage at their building in Eugene and prepare for the announcement.
For years Birth to Three provided resources, support, and parenting classes for new moms and dads navigating their way through the first three years of their baby's life. But the agency has been doing much more than that. The managers decided a name change would help reflect their expanded role.
Communications Director Marilyn Milne says the new name is a better fit: “It doesn’t limit us in terms of the perception of age groups of the children and families we serve. And it’s more accurate because actually we have groups with families that have children up to age eight. And it put the emphasis on the parents which we have done anyway.”
On its new website,
Parenting Now offers a free help-line to connect moms and dads to parent educators for advice, support and referrals to community resources.
