EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Another record was broken for the Oregon Ducks as thousands of fans packed Autzen Stadium Saturday for the annual spring football team scrimmage. A new attendance record of 44,129 fans attending the game was set on on Saturday, April 28, 2012.

The game used to draw just a few thousand fans at maximum, at times, even less. Now the Spring Game is now the only chance anyone gets to see the team play outside of the regular season as team practices are closed to cameras and spectators.

“It used to be like 80 people would show up to the Spring Game and now it's insane: you've got to park somewhere and shuttle in, so it's really cool to get that first glimpse of them. It's kind of nice. It keeps the mystery when they keep the practices closed and then you kind of wonder what you're going to see,” said Samantha Chutes, a longtime Spring Game attendee.

“You only get so many home games a year, so you come out and enjoy it, especially on a nice day like this. You get so many people out here and enjoy the nice weather,” said Will Von Schlegell, a Duck fan.

“It's a happening, it's kind of a rock concert,” said Terry Sheldon, one of thousands attending Saturday’s game.

Saturday’s Spring Game was also the highest attended scrimmage in Pac-12 school history.
