EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) – One person has died and three others are injured after a two vehicle crash on Highway 99 Sunday evening. Oregon State Police is investigating the crash and Highway 99 is expected to be closed until at least midnight, early Monday morning, December 26th, 2011.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night on Highway 99 near milepost 117 and the intersection of Airport Road in Eugene.
Oregon State Police says the crash involved a full-size pickup driven by an adult male and a Honda passenger car driven by an adult male. The driver of the Honda passenger car died in the crash.
The truck came to rest wedged between two metal posts. The posts are part of a sign for Bobcat West, a construction equipment company.
One witness told NewsSource 16 that the driver of the pickup truck involved was going too fast when he lost control and ran into a sign.
Four people were involved in all. Two were riding in the pick-up truck and two were riding in the passenger car.
Three people went to the hospital. At least one of the passengers was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
Oregon State Police is still investigating the crash and looking for witnesses.
