BANDON, Ore. (KMTR) -- A shooting on Highway 101 near Bandon on the southern Oregon coast has left one man dead, another in critical condition, a woman wounded in her forearm and a man under arrest on one count of murder and one count of assault.
Oregon State Police investigators say three men and two women were riding in a car on Highway 101 north of Seven Devils Road when some sort of fight happened among them. Passersby called 911 to report two bodies by the side of the road. Within a half hour, the three others in the car were detained by police.
One of the two men who were shot was dead at the scene. He was identified as George Micheaux III, 19, of Myrtle Creek. The other man, Milton Chester Leach, 70, also of Myrtle Creek, was taken by air to OHSU in Portland where he was listed in extremely critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.
The vehicle involved was found several miles north of the scene. State Police officers found two women along with the third man, 43-year-old Timothy Allen Henson of Myrtle Creek. Henson was arrested on a murder count in the death of Micheaux and one count of assault connected to the wounding of the woman.
Investigators say all five were known to each other and all lived on the same property in Myrtle Creek.
