I have not been able to go to any of the OCCUPY sites. I do support their, and my right to Peaceably Assemble and Protest. Previous comments I have read here calling protesters hippies, bums, losers, etc... are disgraceful! Whether you agree with them or not all Americans Citizens have Constitutional Rights. These Rights many have died for. To mock or ridicule is saying take away these Protesters Rights. Take away their Rights and you lose yours too. VERY FOOLISH!

I wonder- have any of you been down to the Occupy camp? From the comments above, I think you'd be very surprised at the variety of people involved, many w/ jobs, school, families. It's also important to remember that not all homeless folks are addicts & hookers- most are simply people who happen to be poor. How many people are, after all, a paycheck away from being in the same situation, these days? There are also folks like me- older, w/ homes, who come down when we can to stay involved, & add support. The Wash-Jeff site has been approved, & strongly advocated for by the city, & the camp won't be displacing anyone. As for addicts- there are several sobriety facilities nearby, & that was much more of an issue in the park years ago. Alton Baker currently has a larger addict presence, as do areas of the riverfront. We are fortunate to be able to work w/ our city so far. Howver, please remember that civil disobedience is exactly that, & has a long & honorable history. It's what people do when it's the only way to be heard, to have a real effect. This is being done because of deeply held principles, & a real desire to set things right. I invite any of you who feel hostile about, &/or confused by the Occupy movement, to come down to the camp, w/ an open mind. Or just learn more about the movement, because unless you're unbelievably wealthy, happy w/ the wholesale co-opting of our nation's govt. by multi-national corporate money, & don't care how many fast & loose the financial sector plays w/ our money, you may just find you have more in common than you think w/ the people out there in the camps, or those of us pitching in when we can.

Way to stick it to the evil corporate CEOs and big bankers - camp out in Washington-Jefferson Park, displacing homeless people and junkies. I suppose homeless people, heroin users, and hookers make up 1%, but it's the wrong 1%. What a complete bunch of boobs.

Yea, this has gone way past a protest..now it is just a bunch of idiots breaking local laws..the city needs to start giving fines out when they think that it is thier right to sleep in our city parks..Hey I have an idea..go stay in a county park and pay your fees!

Why don't they just move home and get a job.
