Eugene (KMTR) – “Occupy Eugene” protesters plan to hold another rally later this week outside a Eugene bank branch. The members say they will return Thursday afternoon to the scene of last week's “Occupy Eugene” rally, outside the Bank of America branch on the corner of East 11th Avenue and Pearl Street.During last week's rally, protesters held signs that read, “We are the 99%.” Their intended meaning is that they represent the majority, but they say the top 1% of the country is making all of the bad decisions. The protestors say they are tired of the government not stepping in and doing something about Wall Street's role in the economic downturn.
According to their Web site, the local "Occupy” movement is working with two other local groups, the Civil Liberties Defense Center and the Community Alliance for Lane County, to run workshops on training for non-violent demonstrations and education about protesters’ rights.
As of Monday morning, the “Occupy Eugene” Facebook page had nearly 1,400 members.
