CORVALLIS (KMTR) – Two Oregon State University students are looking to raise thousands of dollars for Japan all while savings fellow students money.

Josh Yundt and John Hadden are both business students who are working with their international business class professor in the project. The instructor challenged his students to create a business idea to help in the Japan earthquake and tsunami efforts.

Yundt and Hadden made a $10 dollar coupon card that students can use to get free food and discounts at area restaurants. All of the profits in the cards will go toward the American Red Cross.

So far, 11 businesses including Qdoba, Panda Express, Yogurt Extreme and more are on board. The young men who started the coupon book say it offers more than $40 dollars in savings. They are paying out of pocket for the printing and nearly 200 volunteers have offered to help sell them. The card is not just for students, but anyone who wants to check in on the savings while giving to Japan.

Both men say while the project was in fact a challenge, it’s not only benefitting students but mostly, Japan.

“It's more about, you know, what we can, what Oregon State can do -what Corvallis can do - what we can do as a community in the northwest to do something for Japan,” said Yundt.

Yundt and Hadden say they hope to sell the cards at the OSU bookstore next week.
