SCOTTSBURG, Ore. (KMTR) -- A new wildfire was discovered early Tuesday just west of the town of Scottsburg in western Douglas County. So far, its origin is unknown.

About thirty firefighters, a bulldozer, tenders and two helicopters have been dispatched to fight the flames on a hillside near Highway 38 between Scottsburg and Reedsport.

The size of the fire was around five or six acres by 8 AM, burning on private forest land. No homes are threatened.

The Coos Forest Protective Association cautions drivers to use caution and watch for drifting smoke and moving fire equipment in the area.
