EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- A new addition to the downtown Eugene food scene is bringing fresh homemade breads and pastries back to the area.
Noisette Pastry Kitchen opened its doors for business this morning, getting a welcome from Mayor Kitty Piercy and city staff.
The shop is on the corner of Broadway and Charnelton Streets, where the old Broadway Market used to be in the Broadway Place apartment complex.
Noisette serves scones, biscuits, muffins and other items highlighting bread. Tobi Sovak and her family run the place. Sovak used to be a pastry chef at King Estate Winery and Marche.
"I’m hoping to be able to serve a lot of sweet and savory pastries - meaning things that don't have sugar in them - and hopefully we'll also be doing a lot lunch items, sandwiches and salads. We also love wine and beer so we'll also be doing that as well,” says Tobi Sovak, owner of Noisette Pastry Kitchen.
Noisette will be open for breakfast, lunch and light dinners. The business is one of five new food places set to open downtown by year's end.
