CEDAR FLAT, Ore. (KMTR) -- The investigation continues while names have yet to be released in a deputy-involved shooting east of Springfield in which one woman was shot.
According to the Lane County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened Monday night, April 2, 2012, on Cedar Flat Road. LCSO says a woman, who was armed with a gun, was shot in a driveway after deputies responded to domestic dispute between family members.
Two LCSO deputies responded to the call. According to Captain Byron Trapp of the Lane County Sheriff's Office, when they arrived, deputies encountered a woman in the driveway.
The woman was armed and refused to follow commands from deputies, Trapp said. One deputy tased the woman, but it did not work. The woman then allegedly displayed the gun and one deputy shot her, according to Trapp.
As of Thursday morning, the woman involved remains in the hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.
According to the Lane County Sheriff's Office, the names of those involved, including the suspect and the deputies, will likely be released on Friday, April 6, 2012.
The Lane County Sheriff's Office says names have not been released because of the ongoing investigation. Part of the delay is also to prepare deputies as they debrief from the incident. Both deputies directly involved will be on administrative leave through Friday.
The one person arrested in the case was arraigned in Lane County Circuit Court on Tuesday.
After the shooting, deputies encountered two hostile males, including 32-year-old Anthony Koloski. According to Trapp, deputies allegedly had to wrestle Koloski to the ground to detain him.
“Witnesses also confirm the actions of this hostile man, both hostile men and a combative male, prevented prompt treatment to this woman,” says Captain Trapp. “Additionally, they were unable to promptly secure her weapon, risking the safety of themselves and others on the property.”
Koloski was arrested for interfering with police activity. He's pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released from the Lane County Jail on Tuesday.
So far, the woman who was shot has not been charged. While the Sheriff's Office is calling her a suspect, however, it will be up to prosecutors in the Lane County District Attorney's Office whether or not she'll be charged.
