LANE COUNTY, Ore. (KMTR) -- Lane County search and rescue crews have recovered the body of a woman who went missing on Thursday.

Barbara Bergmann, 74, was last seen at a campground near Waldo Lake. Search crews and volunteers were canvassing the area near the Shoreline Trail on Friday. That’s when rescue dogs followed a scent all the way to the lake where they ended up finding Bergmann’s body. They’re still not sure how she died.

John Miller, with Lane County Search and Rescue, says, “Sometimes people do this by their own hand, sometimes they get lost and sometimes they slip off the dock. You don't know what happens. So this is really, at least from what we understand, there's nothing extraordinary. It does not look criminal in nature."

The medical examiner will now work on figuring out how Bergmann died.
