Well Hope I don't know where you got your figures. They may or may not be accurate, but I can tell you this, I can't afford any more taxes. The public employee unions have been and are pricing themselves right out of business. The State and Public Unions are going to be bankrupt before too long, and for the life of me I can't figure out why they don't see it coming. Maybe they figure they will get what they can before it goes belly up. In the mean time we have to protect ourselves until public unions and public employees figure out what they are doing. See you in the food line.

Guess you haven't been paying attention. Lane County's traffic team was already eliminated. I just heard the staffing detail this morning: There were 99 patrol deputies in 1979 (total, not per shift). There were 16 last year, 14 this year, and six will be left on July 1. The DA had 32 Deputy DAs and 11 detective-investigators in 1979, about the US average for the crime volume. Now there are 24 DAs and 3 detectives. Next year they drop eight more to 16 DA's. Nobody to handle drug crimes and about 50% of the felony crimes, and no medical examiners office at all. Welcome to the Wild West. Now Eugene and Springfield won't be able to manage, as only the DA has authority to hold the felons in jail, and he's losing 3,000 cases worth of staff. I guess this is what the community has been demanding. Hope everybody is happy with it.

Taxes, I will list a few that many of us are subject to; State Income Tax, Federal Income, fica, soc sec, medicare, telephone taxes, extended calling area, interstate servie fee, federal regulatory fee, federal excise tax, state 911 tax on each phone unit, federal universal servce fund fee Oregon universal service fund fee, Oregon PUC fee, federal telecom relay service fee, driver's license fees, vehicle fees, boat, rv, atv, etc. Oregon hunting and fishing license fees and numerous tag fees and other related fees, Oregon park fee day and camping, County park fees, Snow Zone parking permit fees, Property Tax, Gasoline tax Oregon and some cities, lodging tax, dog license fees, sports fees for schools, building permit fees, rain tax in some cities, Ltd tax on businesses, gets passed on to the consumer, not to mention barbers, hairdressers, recycle fees on paint and many other items, assumed business names. Folk I could just keep going, you see it is a bottomless pit and will only get worse with organizations like SEIU. As I have said private unions are accountable to stay in business. Government just keeps going with no accountability not even to the people that pay their way. See you in the food line.

The problem with adding more taxes is that people are taxed too much already. Why should anyone in the private sector vote for more taxes when they know that they are just paying for more benefits for public employees, benefits they could only dream of getting in the private sector. When PERS is brought in line with the average private sector pension as with all benefits, then I might be able to vote for more taxes. Until then just take a piece of paper and list all the taxes you currently pay. See you in the food line.

Why would they want to cancel motorcycle traffic teams? It sounds like the citations that "mongomaniac" is receiving is funding them. Most traffic teams are funded by revenue from citations and federal traffic safety money. Maybe eliminating the morgue and medical examiners will finally get people's attention. The lack of a county morgue will affect people inside Eugene/Springfield.

What is REALLY boils down to is that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. This is a FACT and it has everything to do with BOTH parties at the federal level in the Senate and the House and its been like this for the past 70 years! This is EXTREME CAPITALISM people, like it or change it!!!

What it all boils down to is the tax payer is really tapped out in a down and slow recovering economy. It seems like the current President and his policies are doing everything they can to get their buddies what they want ie, gas prices, EPA rules on coal, etc. No think about this. When there is a minor accident for instance, I have seen rediculous numbers of emergency vehicles rolling on accidents, and yes even in minor accidents. If there is a small spill of diesel or gas, out comes the hazmat people, barriers and who knows what else. Used to be an officer arrived at the scene of an accident, assessed quickly what was needed and called for the necessary help or equipment. Now I won't argue that time saves lives, but I will argue the necessity to have all the fire trucks, hazmat and odot traffic direction control at the scene. That's another thing how did ODOT get into directing traffic. That used to be the Troppers responsibility. You see Government has become so bloated with employees and out of touch benefits (PERS) that they need to constantly find new sources of Revenue. Sit down sometime and list on a piece of paper all the taxes and fees (just another word for tax)and you might be astounded at the mulitude of taxes you already pay. Look at your phone bill, your 911 tax on each and every phone you have, gas tax, park fees, state, federal, motel, property, and there is not enough room to list all the fee and taxes you pay, and then add tax on business (that gets passed down to you anyway) LTD, is a good one. Anyway the bottom line is that people are getting tapped out. Government has to lean down or things are really going to get bad. See you in the food line.
