Eugene (KMTR) - Kitty Piercy says she plans to seek a third term as Mayor of Eugene.After a lot of thought and discussing the decision with her family, Mayor Piercy says she's ready to “keep moving forward.”
Before a small group of supporters Wednesday, Piercy highlighted her accomplishments in the past six years, including filling downtown pits and bringing jobs to the local community.
However, while a lot has been accomplished, Piercy said there is still more to be done and that she’s up for the challenge.
“The way that I look at it,” said Piercy, “we're in a very tough time. And together we're about to move forward. So, it's sort of ‘steady at the wheel.’ Keep on moving and realize together we're a very strong community and nothing is outside our reach.”
Eugene’s next scheduled election is the May 12, 2012 Primary. According to the Lane County Elections Web site, Piercy is the only person running. The deadline to file is February 29.
