Eugene (KMTR) - A search for a man on the run shut down several Eugene streets late Wednesday night and put neighbors on alert near Monroe Middle School.

Police say it began with a traffic stop at Tandy Turn and Corydon Way. A passenger in the car, 26-year-old Makai Lemke, who was wanted on methamphetamine charges, took off running. The officer who made the stop also heard a gun shot about the same time, but wasn't sure if it was directed at him.

That drew a huge police response.

Streets in a quarter-mile radius were closed down, including Coburg Road, Cal Young Road, Harlow Road and Oakway Road. Officers alerted neighbors to stay inside and report anything suspicious.

So far, Lemke has eluded capture. He is 5’6” tall and has brown hair and eyes, He was wearing a dark jacket and jeans.

The gunfire the officer heard turned out to be unrelated. Police say the shot was fired a few blocks away by a man with a rifle who was drunk. The man was ticketed for discharging a firearm within city limits.

You guys don't get Eugene. I live here as you probably do. How about actual Police A/V showing how they sent SWAT to my house for an email to a giant bank? ALL on..[www.osunrise.com] You can't argue with what you see here, it is not bs. You have heard weird things and dismiss them? Now...see at the most granular possible level how the Police do it. System Forensics Baby they don't know (even yet) the tenth of what i got..... gotta start them off SLOW! official police a/v and detail. take 1/2 hour, see how they do it. Proven.
