SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- Daniel Gehrig says he doesn't visit Ashley's Deli often; he just happened to be there Sunday night when a man came in with a hatchet demanding money from an employee.
Gehrig says the employee looked like he was in danger, so he jumped into action. Gehrig doesn't have any special training to handle this kind of situation, but made the right move at the right moment. When the suspect's back was turned, Gehrig grabbed him from behind, put him in a bear hug, grabbed the hatchet and threw it across the room. He held the man down until police arrived a few minutes later.
22-year-old Sidney Queener was arrested on robbery and menacing charges.
