Man sprays police officers with paintball gun

EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Eugene police officers called out to a Eugene home Sunday evening were greeted by a man firing a paintball gun at them from his porch.

Police say Mitchell Ellingson, 49, fired more than fifity paintball rounds at police as they approached his home in the 800 block of West 4th Avenue. Two officers said they were hit but not hurt.

According to the police report, Ellingson was drunk and out of control, yelling and threatening officers.

After a 30-minute standoff, officers were able to arrest him. Ellingson was taken to a hospital for evaluation and later to jail.

He is charged with assaulting public safety officers, disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering.

Wow! Seriously? Not smart. I hate it when people misuse Paintball markers. It makes the sport and players look like thugs and delinquents.
