EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- A 54-year old man is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after an alleged assault at Occupy Eugene's camp late Monday night.

Around 10:40 p.m. on Monday, December 19th, 2011, Eugene Police responded to the Occupy Eugene camp at Washington Jefferson Park for a call of a dispute. On scene, an EPD officer discovered a 54-year old man unresponsive, not breathing and with life threatening injuries.

An EPD spokeswoman, Melinda McLaughlin says the officer gave the man CPR until paramedics arrived on scene. The man was transported to a local Eugene/Springfield area hospital with life threatening injuries.

A Eugene Police forensics team was on scene until about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning, December 20th, 2011. Officers spent several hours inspecting a taped-off area in the northeast corner of the park, near the intersection of Washington Street and 7th Avenue.

McLaughlin says police interviewed several people on scene. As of Tuesday morning, EPD says no one is in custody in the case.

"It looks like the man may have been involved in a dispute or fight of some kind. He's a 54-year-old white male, but beyond that at this point, we're not able to release further details," said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin says officers responded to five disputes between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday evening.

Kitty Piercy has got to be one of the dumbest, most out-of-touch people in Lane County. Leave it to the freaks of Eugene to forget how bad she sucked the first time and reelect her.

Time to broom those smelly, urine-soaked, disease-ridden shreds-of-human-debris losers and let the taxpayers clean up after them. Maybe someone else would like to use these public areas for a while... Perhaps these boobs should take their little “protest” to Washington DC, where this country's problems really originate. Losers now; losers forever...

Yeah the protesters may have not "asked" the EPD to be there but they obviously need them there. Are you kidding me??? This was number what in one stupid night? Funny thing too is that the drug users and alcoholic homeless that are finding refuge in this camp are loving it....they cant go to other places in town that are set up to help the homeless. They have to behave. They have to be sober. They have to do what is expected to keep the peace. In this camp they dont have to do a damn thing but exist.

I keep hearing the word "evict" being used. You evict renters not squatters. Enough is enough. This camp needs to be disbanded now. It is only going to get worse and the health risks higher. I am also concerned that our local food banks are being depleted to support this movement instead of local families that are in need and are making an actual contribution to our community.

How many will go without food because you decided to spend the money on the Protest goons...how much longer before someone does a "drive-by" of the camp. The POS that run this town a worthless!!
